IPAC COURT JUDGEMENT: SA on Inter Party Makes Clarifications, Tasks New Leaders on Unity

In compliance with the recent Court judgment empowering INEC to deregister some political parties in the country, the Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC) in Ebonyi State has on Wednesday 29th July 2020 constituted a new interim executive as SA on Inter Party Affairs makes clarifications, calls on members to remain peaceful, united in their issues.

 Our correspondents who observed the inauguration at the state IPAC office in Abakaliki, reports that national officials of IPAC presided over the inauguration which had in attendance 13 out of the 18 political parties approved by INEC.  Those absent include Boot party, APC, YPP, SDP and ZLP.

The national delegates, Yusuf M. Dantalle who is the National Chairman of Allied People’s Movement (APM) and National Secretary IPAC and Major Agbo, the National Chairman New Nigeria Peoples Party and National Publicity Secretary IPAC while inaugurating the Interim Leadership explained that the committee will stay for a period of time pending when IPAC election will be conducted across the country, possibly after Ondo State Governorship Election. 

They maintained that IPAC serves as a watchdog to Government and not people who instigate violence among opposition and ruling party. 
The two national IPAC leaders called on the new leadership to work together irrespective of ideology to achieve the purpose of IPAC which is for good governance. They however commended Gov David Nweze Umahi for the developmental strides in the State, noting that he is truly a grand master of infrastructure. 

The seven members Interim Leadership include: Mr. Ntchita Samuel (ADP) Chairman; Hon Udume Evo Samuel (ADC) Secretary; Obasi James Alina (AA) Treasurer; Chief Nwobegu Moses (LP) Publicity Secretary; Ani Paschal Ndubuisi (Accord) Financial Secretary; Idoma Samuel (PRP) Organizing and Welfare Secretary and Chief Ricky Okorouka of (APGA) as Youth Policy Adviser.

Addressing journalists shortly after the inauguration, the Special Assistant to Ebonyi State Governor on Inter Party, Labour Matters and King David Gifted Children Academy Comr. (Mrs.) Jenifer Adibe-Nwafor called on the new Interim IPAC Leaders to remain united and to always resolve issues through dialogue, adding that success thrives where there is peace and understanding. 

The SA further explained that the interim leadership became necessary following deregistration of some political parties which affected many Political parties including that of the former chairman and some of his executive. She added that since efforts to seek redress in Court by the affected political parties failed, IPAC at all levels decided to obey the Court ruling, hence the new leadership in the State.

She praised the leadership style of His Excellency Engr. David Nweze Umahi for the golden opportunity given to IPAC to thrive in the State and for the harmonious relationship that existed right from the time she held sway as the Chairman of IPAC in the State. She advised the newly inaugurated IPAC Interim Leadership to always shy away from altercation that could bring unhealthy relationship among Political parties in the State. 

She also expressed her readiness to partner with the new leadership, noting that her office is always open at all time to mediate on issues pertaining to Political parties to ensure peaceful coexistence among  all the Political parties as the SA on Inter Party to the Governor.   


On his part, the State PDP Chairman, Barr. Onyekachi Nwebonyi commended the peaceful disposition of all political parties in the State and the support they have been giving to PDP led State government under Governor David Umahi. He congratulated the new interim leadership and assured them of his party’s loyalty as member.

Former IPAC chairman and current TA to governor Umahi on Inter Party affairs, Bishop Edward Constance described Ebonyi IPAC as unique. He eulogized the peaceful manner the interim leaders were selected and called on all members to give them support to achieve greater success for all members.

Earlier in his acceptance speech, chairman of the new interim committee, Mr. Nchita Samuel appreciated other members of IPAC for considering him worthy of the position. He however pledged to carry all members along and to run an all inclusive administration in Ebonyi IPAC. 

The inauguration had in attendance security operatives including DSS, Nigeria Police Force and SA to the Governor on Security and Public Utility in Ebonyi South, Mr.  Chika Nwangele who were at the venue to ensure peaceful conduct of the inauguration.
