Constituents Honour Federal Lawmaker at Ezza, Ikwo New Yam Festival

History was once again made in Ebonyi state with honor and recognition of the federal lawmaker representing Ezza south and Ikwo Federal Constituency at the national Assembly, Hon Comrade Chinedu Ogah by his constituents during their 2020 new yam festival.

At Onueke the ancestral home of Ezza Ezekunna  in Ezza south local government, the federal lawmaker who graced the Okeaku new yam festival of Ezza nation on 5th August 2020, was honoured by the people who described him as a unifying force haven demonstrated quality representation and leadership devoid of party sentiments and segregation.

They applauded him for massive employment of youths in federal government jobs and community projects that cut across communities in Ezza south and Ikwo LGAs.

On 7th August, 2020, Comrade Chinedu Ogah was once again given a heroic welcome by his people of Ikwo Noyo in what many described as cultural carnival marking Nnesweoha New Yam Festival.

Speaking at the event held at Ekpelu the ancestral home of Ikwo Noyo clan, the lawmaker emphasized that time has come for Ikwo Noyo sons and daughters to unite for peace and development irrespective of personal interest and party affiliation.

He commended the leadership of the council, traditional rulers, stakeholders and the clergy men from Ikwo for their show of oneness at the event. Hon Ogah stressed the importance of peace and unity which he said was needed to move the clan forward.

Other speakers including the representative of the State Deputy Governor, Barr Eric Kelechi Igwe, Chief Whip of the state house of Assembly, Rt. Hon Humphrey Nwuruku, member representing Ikwo south State Constituency, Hon Moses Odunwa, Pioneer Chairman of Ikwo LGA, Chief Ekechi Nwode, PDP candidate for Ikwo Council Election, Elder Steve Orogwu among other speakers congratulated Ikwo people and prayed for greater success, unity, peace and progress in the land.

The Chief host and Caretaker Chairman of the Council, Hon Comrade Chidiebere Good luck Egwu expressed joy with the large turnout to the event.

He stressed that it was the first time leaders from different political parties, past and present political office holders, traditional rulers, clergy men from Ikwo and other Stakeholders came together to celebrate the clan’s new yam festival. Comrade Egwu prayed and wished the people bumper harvest in all their endeavors.

Good will message were also received from Catholic Priests from Ikwo and those serving in Ikwo, Senator representing Ebonyi Central, Sen. Obinna Ogba, Ambassador Jonah Mkpuruka, Chief Elias Mbam from Izzi and other notable personalities who graced the festival.

Highpoint of the festival was the blessing and distribution of kolanuts, old yam and other fruits by custodians of Ikwo culture. There were cultural dance and exchange of gifts among the people

Comrade Ogah and his entourage was later treated to a civic reception at Ekpelu Primary School and at Ndufu Echara respectively. Thousands of supporters from the twenty wards in Ikwo LGA accompanied the federal lawmaker to the event.
